3 investors Robert Bishop founder of Impala Asset Management, founder and acting partner of Kynikos Associates Jim Chanos and founder of LMM Bill Miller, shared some of their active positions during big hedge fund conference in New York. They all started that at the moment the market is quite dangerous, with low incomes, which prompted investors to the brink of despair.
First was Bill Miller. He described his picks as "boring and obvious." He is long on S&P and short on the 10-year bonds. Moreover he is long on Valeant Pharmaceuticals. According to him, this is a completely different company and different management and should benefit 25-30% profit during the next five years.
After that came Robert Bishop. The idea is Teck Resources, a company that trades in the US and Canada and produces zinc, copper and coal will rise due to the improving demand in China and actions of the Chinese government to stabilize the economy.
Last was Jim Chanos who is short of Tesla, SolarCity everything about Elon Musk. According to him the combined SolarCity and Tesla, which he thinks will have a cash burn of $1 billion a quarter, will constantly need access to capital markets.
