One of the best investments that can be made is buying the S&P 500 dividend aristocrat stocks. That is a collection of 52 companies that have raised dividends each year for at least 25 years, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. But S&P 500 is not the only one:

AT&T
While fourth-quarter earnings were in line with forecasts, and slightly below the Wall Street estimates, a change in accounting for the entertainment group lowered revenue/EBITDA by $300 million for the quarter. All in all, a solid quarter, is another reason for conservative accounts to own the stock. AT&T investors receive a huge 4.94% dividend. The Merrill Lynch price target for the stock is $40, and estimate consensus is $37.85. Shares closed most recently at $38.88.

Exxon Mobil
This is one of Merrill Lynch’s top 10 picks for 2016. Some very solid reasons for adding the stock to a long-term growth portfolio are that the company has consistently demonstrated disciplined investing, operational excellence and technological innovation.
Exxon investors receive a 3.48% dividend. The Merrill Lynch target price is $95. The consensus price objective is lower at $80.52. Shares ended last week at $83.98.

Nucor
Nucor Corp. and its affiliates are manufacturers of steel products, with operating facilities primarily in the United States and Canada. The company also is North America’s largest recycler. Nucor investors receive a 3.25% . Merrill Lynch has a $50 price objective, and the consensus target is $47.71. The stock closed most recently at $46.48.

Procter & Gamble
This stock is still down since this time last year, partly because it has a very large 65% of sales directed to foreign customers. That should improve as the dollar run looks to be slowing. The company posted very solid fourth-quarter results in January and despite earning expectations that have been lowered somewhat, Merrill Lynch feels comfortable that the stock can continue the current positive momentum. Shareholders receive a 3.2% dividend. The $89 Merrill Lynch price target is higher than the consensus target of $83.48. The stock closed most recently at $82.89.
