Japanese equities looked set to open higher. Nikkei futures traded in Chicago were up by 0.36 percent at 20,225 and Osaka futures were higher by 0.13 percent at 20,180.
On Wall Street, stocks closed mixed after big name technology stocks traded lower. The Dow Jones industrial average closed 0.07 percent up at 21,409.55, the S&P 500 edged higher by 0.03 percent to end at 2,439.07 and the Nasdaq declined 0.29 percent to close at 6,247.15.
Investors will also digest the outcome of the first meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, which took place on Monday U.S. time. The two leaders discussed issues relating to trade and defense.
Oil prices rose, but increasing crude production and worries over an oversupply in oil markets continued to weigh. Brent crude futures rose 0.6 percent to settle at $45.83 a barrel and U.S. crude futures advanced 0.8 percent to settle at $43.38.
In currency news, the dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, traded at 97.426. Against the yen, the dollar strengthened to trade at 111.87, around a five-week high.
