The Australian market is set to open slightly lower on Monday, with SPI futures trading down 0.2 percent at 5,378, compared to the ASX 200's last close at 5,429.57.
Nikkei futures in Chicago were up 0.88 percent at 16,705, higher than the Japanese benchmark index's Friday close at 16,497.85. However, Japanese markets are shut for the Marine Day public holiday.
Asian markets do not seem to have been overly perturbed by the S&P 500's negative close with 0.09 percent lower or news of the Turkish coup. This week will decide whether this will be a minor blip on the path higher [for markets] or whether this rally will reverse sharply."
