During the Asian trading session, shares declined after China's GDP data, which showed that the economy is developing at its slowest pace over the past 30 years.
The main Chinese indices fell. Shanghai Composite fell 0.52%, Shenzhen Component fell 0.29%, and Shenzhen Composite 0.359%.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index fell 0.45% while the city was still "occupied" by protesters for the new extradition law. Beijing has denied the resignation of Carrie Lam, who heads the independent territory.
In South Korea, Kospi fell by 0.13%, and in Australia, ASX200 fell by 0.52%, with most sectors staying red. Markets in Japan were closed today for a national holiday.
