The final policy decision for the Bank of Japan in 2016 is the highlight of today’s session in Asia.
However, little is expected in the way of tweaks for the Japanese central bank as it winds down on what has been an experimental and at times tumultuous year. The yen is flat today at ¥117.1 per dollar, having strengthened 0.7 per cent yesterday in spite of a stronger greenback.
Futures tip Japan’s Nikkei 225 to open 0.2 per cent lower and for Hong Kong’s Hang Seng to fall by as much. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 is up 0.3 per cent within the first half-hour of trade.
