Futures pointed to a mixed open for Asian markets on Monday, ahead of key economic data due this week - Japan's inflation data and Samsung earnings, due on Thursday.
Nikkei futures in Chicago traded at 17,310. Australia's ASX 200 was down 0.42 percent in early trade, with most sectors trading lower. The heavily-weighted financial sector was down 0.36 percent
Shares in ANZ were down 0.25 percent, Commonwealth Bank of Australia was 0.51 percent lower, Westpac lost 0.20 percent and the National Australia Bank was down 0.36 percent.
