Futures pointed to a mixed open for Asian equities Tuesday, with markets likely to focus on data out of the region and the dollar's strength.
Australia's SPI futures were 0.1 percent down. The ASX 200 closed at 5,408 on Monday.
Nikkei futures in Chicago were 0.7 percent higher at 17,055.00, while Osaka futures slipped 0.2 percent at 17,040. The Nikkei 225 had closed up at 17,06802 in the previous session, driven by yen weakness against the dollar. The dollar firmed on the back of Federal Reserve rate hike expectations.
Brent crude futures settled up 0.89 percent at $49.76 a barrel.
