Will we see an early parliamentary election in October?
We will find out soon. The vote is expected to pass a complete abolition of the no-deal Brexit, backed by Labor, Liberal Democrats and Rebels in the face of the Conservatives.
Boris Johnson is then expected to propose a new general election. Labor wants elections, but according to sources, they will not allow this to happen. The results will be released in 10 minutes.
In order for Boris's request to come to fruition, the government will have to call a deal by October 21 and remove its no-deal Brexit requirements.
The first Brexit fix was canceled. This amendment meant that Parliament did not need to approve the final deal.
The following is more interesting. It will give parliament another chance to vote in favor of extending the Brexit deal - one that May has achieved. (Parliament's spokesman abolished the vote on this amendment). Addendum: (Not repealed. This was mistakenly approved because there were no politicians to vote. As a result, this amendment will again be put to the vote at some point.
The vote to block No - deal Brexit is currently underway. If it goes as expected, it will move to the upper House.
The UK Parliament has agreed to block No - deal Brexit by 31 January 2020. The proposal will go to the upper House. Politicians voted 327 for 299 against. Things are now shifting to House of Lords, which will take at least two days to push through the reform. But if they make any change, they will have to vote again.
From the official statement: According to the proposal, if the House of Commons agrees to a No-deal Brexit or approves a deal with the EU, the government will have until October 19 to look for a way to extend Point 50 to January 31, 2020. The 90-minute debate follows for new snap elections. According to the Fixed - term Parliaments Act 2011, such elections can only occur every five years, with subsequent ones scheduled for May 5, 2022. However, the F-t PA allows an exception for earlier elections. At least 2/3 of the parliament must agree to call such elections or pass a no-confidence motion and there is no alternative government within 14 days.
The chance of a majority is very small today. Tomorrow Boris may take a no-confidence vote.
