It’s shaping up to be a busy spring selling season in the U.S. housing market. The University of Michigan’s latest consumer sentiment survey showed 16 percent of respondents consider home buying conditions as “good” because asking prices, despite being elevated, won’t get any better. That’s the largest share since 1980. While Americans will be paying up for properties, buyers believe they’ll still be better off in the long run because tight inventory, steady demand and, more recently, surging construction costs will keep pushing prices even higher.
