Billionaire investor Carl Icahn is moving ... to Miami !. That is due next year, and employees who disagree with the change will be fired.
Icahn informed Icahn Enterprises staff that it had been decided to close its offices in New York City and White Plains on March 31, 2020 and immediately open the Magic City of Florida the next day.
And to "sweeten" the invitation to his employees, anyone who follows him in Miami will receive his annual salary and bonuses from 2018, and anyone fired before March 31, 2023 will receive immediate solid compensation.
Icahn also offers a $ 50,000 "relocation bonus", which will be paid in April 2020 as soon as employees have permanent residency in Florida.
However, those who do not move to the Sunshine State will receive full compensation. That's about $ 11,700.
Icahn has about 50 employees, 20 of whom are top business professionals.
In his message to his employees, the philanthropist also explains that the decision to "go south was not made easily". His decision came after a serious reflection on his career, which he spent in New York, and at this stage, the investor does not think to retire. He already prefers a warmer climate and "slows down".
However, Icahn, who is 83, has not given a full explanation for his decision, it seems, leaving New Yorkers going to Florida to save tax money.
