US futures point to a slightly weaker opening, with trade talks in focus. The Chinese have invited Washington for a face-to-face meeting in Beijing.
The NDX is down about 4 points, the DJIA is down 7, and the SPX is down about 2.
The offer was made last week, but the US has not yet responded to the invitation, which went public today. Tensions between the two countries have intensified since the US Congress passed a law to support protesters in Hong Kong. China accordingly wants the law abolished.
Meanwhile, Trump has indicated that it is possible to remove Apple from possible tariffs on December 15, which is currently speculated that they will most likely be eliminated even if there is no deal because, according to the US, the deal is "almost done."
Today, the companies that will publish their reports are Macy's, Berry Global, Bjs Wholesale Club Holdings before the bell. Gap, Intuit and Splunk are after the session.
