About 1 am lBulgarian time the Chinese trade delegation was admitted to the office of US Sales Representative Lighthizer.
The Chinese negotiating country has drafted a new draft within 150 pages describing entirely new requirements from China, ignoring almost all US clauses. In each of the seven chapters of the draft agreement, the Chinese have removed from their description their obligation to adopt reforms to meet the demands of the United States.
Deputy Prime Minister Liu He, with his entry into Washington, said he had a humble feeling before the meeting and that he intended to hold a "frank" debate with the US side of the talks. According to him, the tariffs will not benefit either China or the United States. It is precisely the imposition of new tariffs that will be of no use or solution. He is hopeful that some good and constructive negotiations will be held.
About 2:15 am Bulgarian time, China's delegation left the Lighthizer's office, with the two delegations heading for dinner. Negotiations are expected to continue, with the remaining 24 hours remaining crucial.
