A few minutes ago, the US president said he would make a new military department directed entirely at space ... Yes, the space!
"I urge the current Ministry of Defense to work on the creation of sixth separate units of the armed forces," Trump said at a meeting of the National Space Council.
What we know at the moment is that the idea does not meet the approval both in the Pentagon and the White House, but it is a matter of time for it to be accepted.
What do we need to know as a trader if this decision becomes a reality?
As a trader, the first question that comes to mind is how and who will benefit from all this? This is a matter of US defense, it is most logical to look at Lockheed Martin (LMT) and Boeing (BA) as far as defense technology is concerned. The other thing that may be most important at the moment is who will win the government order to bring all this technique into orbit. At the moment, Space X is a leader in the space delivery market, which unfortunately is not a public company. Investors, however, are aware that Elon Musk, who owns Tesla, Solar City and Space X, manages all three companies as a whole, and making profits in one, inevitably leads to a rise in the price of other companies' shares. Adding to the fact that Musk was briefly Donald Trump's adviser to the White House, I think Tesla's purchase of the project will give investors the best return among Lockheed, Boeing and Tesla.
