David Elliot Shaw (born 29 March 1951) is an American computer scientist and computational biochemist who founded DE Shaw & Co., a hedge fund company, which was once described by Fortune magazine as "the most intriguing and mysterious force of Uolstriid . He is also a senior fellow at the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at Columbia University and associate professor of biomedical informatics at the medical school of Columbia.

Shaw is married to personal financial commentator and journalist Beth Kobliner. They are members of Steven Wise- synagogue in New York.
