Chrystia Freeland, Canada's foreign minister, said both sides of the NAFTA talks should come back to the table with fresh ideas. Freeland said this is difficult, but both sides are aware of the impasse in which they are located and are making the necessary efforts to get out of the situation.
Freeland added:
- There is goodwill and good will on both sides
- We continue the negotiations in a positive atmosphere
- Canadian NAFTA positions are known, we expect the United States to retreat, which is likely to happen.
Market reaction:
Rise for US and Canadian indices against a background of high volatility at USD / CAD. I look forward to specific CAD actions to take precedence over the sales we have seen in recent weeks.
