Bitcoin, along with leading cryptocurrencies, fell sharply, at the moment a benchmark is traded at around $10,450. During the downward moment, Bitcoin dropped to $10,376 in Coinbase, or in other words, cryptocurrencies lost over 11% of its value .
Ethereum dropped below the psychological level of $1,000 and is currently trading close to the bottom of about $965.
Ripple does not stay behind, and after the downgrade today is traded by over -14% lower.
The specific reason for the decline is still unclear, with market participants believing that the write-down came after Ernst & Young's comment that more than 10% of the funds raised through ICO are lost or stolen after hacker attacks.
