European stocks are expected to open mixed on Friday as investors await the latest data on manufacturing and services activity in the euro zone.
The London FTSE index is expected to open 9 points lower at 6,899, the German DAX up 9 points at 10,674 and the French CAC down 4 points at 4,503, according to IG.
European markets will be keeping a close eye on the flash manufacturing and services purchasing manager's index (PMI) for the euro zone in September for the latest indicator on the region's heath.
In Asia, markets were mixed on Friday. Japanese stocks were trading lower after returning from a one-day holiday on Thursday, having rallied on Wednesday when the Bank of Japan (BOJ) announced an overhaul of its monetary policy framework.
In business news, Yahoo confirmed on Thursday that information associated with at least 500 million user accounts was stolen. An investigation by the company confirmed that a data breach in late 2014 revealed information that may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, and some passwords and security questions and answers.
