Europe seen higher as markets react to Clinton, Trump clash

European stocks are expected to open higher on Tuesday as global markets react to the first U.S. presidential candidate debate and oil market news.

The London FTSE index is expected to open 37 points higher at 6,855, the German DAX up 51 points at 10,445 and the French CAC up 18 points at 4,426.

Global markets will be reacting to the first televised debate between U.S. presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on Monday night. Clinton appeared to have edged out her Republican opponent based on analysts' take on the initial market reaction.

In other news, Commerzbank is planning to cut around 9,000 jobs over the coming years as Germany's second biggest lender pushes ahead with a restructuring plan, Handelsblatt reported on Monday, citing unnamed sources in the finance industry, according to Reuters.
