European equities are expected to open lower on Tuesday after talks between Greece and Germany yielded little in the way of concrete progress on reforms and following weak Chinese data.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Monday, a meeting which comes amid rising tensions and heated exchanges between Greece and its euro zone neighbors and creditors, particularly Germany.
Tsipras struck a conciliatory note Monday, saying it wasn't right to hold foreigners responsible for the country's problems, and promising to launch "big structural reforms."
Meanwhile in Asia, stocks traded lower across the board on Tuesday after a preliminary survey of China's factory sector prompted new concerns over the world's second-largest economy.
Earnings come from Mediaset Tuesday and Deutsche Bank releases an annual report. U.K. inflation data for February will be released at 09:30 a.m. and Markit composite PMI data for March.
