European markets are expected to open flat this morning as investors exercise caution after a rollercoaster week in global equity markets.
Asian markets were in positive territory in local afternoon trade, with the Shanghai Composite around 1.7 percent higher following news the People's Bank of China had purchased blue chip stocks to prop up the market.
Investors will look toward a string of economic data today, including the second reading of the U.K.'s second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) and a survey on euro-area business and consumer confidence.
