European equities are expected to open lower on Tuesday with investors in Europe likely to keep an eye on how shares of troubled miner Glencore fare today amid a commodities rout.
London-listed commodity firm Glencore was the worst performer of all the major European stocks on Monday with its shares plummeting 29 percent, its biggest intraday decline on record. Investors are worried about the company's debt load.
In Asia, shares plummeted on Tuesday, with commodity plays among the biggest casualties on the back of persistent worries over the health of China's economy and renewed weakness in commodity prices. Commodity-linked currencies were also battered.
Investors in Europe will also be keeping an eye on developments in the Volkswagen emissions scandal on Tuesday.
