A nervous mood gripped markets in the European session.
The dollar weakened after a private report showed the pace of U.S. hiring moderate.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index dropped the most in a week as selling spread to most sectors. Oil clawed back some of its biggest loss in four weeks, while gold and silver retreated.

Stocks
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 1 percent as of 8:22 a.m. in New York.
Futures on the S&P 500 Index declined 0.3 percent
The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index weakened 0.2 percent.
The euro advanced 0.4 percent to $1.1395
The British pound strengthened 0.1 percent to $1.2949.
Commodities
West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 1.6 percent to $45.86 a barrel.
Gold lost 0.2 percent to $1,224.36 an ounce, snapping two days of gains.
