European equities are expected to open in positive territory on Friday after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen suggested the central bank is still on course to raise interest rates later this year. In a speech on Thursday, Yellen said that an interest-rate hike "sometime later this year" would likely be appropriate, though the decision hinges on economic data. She was speaking at the University of Massachusetts.
Investors in Europe will be watching Volkswagen shares closely today. The Independent reported that Volkswagen AG will dismiss top managers Audi and Porsche, together with the head of the US branch. Also that Matthias Müller (since October 2014, CEO of Porsche Automobil Holding SE) has been appointed General Director of Volkswagen.
