European stocks are expected to open lower on Thursday as markets digest the latest monetary policy decision from the U.S. Federal Reserve and look ahead to the latest decision from the Bank of Japan.
The London FTSE index is expected to open 8 points lower at 6,742, the German DAX down 12 points at 10,307 and the French CAC down 4 points at 4,440, according to IG.
European markets on Thursday will be digesting the latest statement from the Federal Open Market Committee and keeping an eye on the start of a two-day policy meeting of the Bank of Japan (BOJ).
As expected, the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged while policymakers noted the labor market has "strengthened" and that "near-term risks to the economic outlook have diminished."
Earnings are due from Credit Suisse, Diageo, Thomas Cook, BNP Paribas, Total, VW, AstraZeneca, Sky, Lloyds Banking Group and Carrefour.
