The optimism that followed the first round of French voting pushed the nation’s CAC 40 Index up 7.4 percent, the most ever between two rounds of presidential ballots and more than the regional Stoxx Europe 600 Index. The benchmark of France’s biggest companies closed on Friday at its highest level since January 2008, with the combined market value of the country’s shares reaching $2.3 trillion. Lenders and consumer companies are among the stocks that may see a further boost after the election of pro-growth, centrist Emmanuel Macron on Sunday.
