U.S. stock index futures pointed to a lower open Monday as traders focused on earnings after the best day of the new year for the Dow Jones industrial average in the previous session.

Earlier today EU markets were trading with mixed sentiment. The yen declined, but later corrected and is now the strongest currency followed by the US dollar.
Gold rose during the Asian session on account of a weaker dollar.
Oil markets declined as Brent crude futures fell 0.4 percent to $56.56 for barrel, while US oil prices fell 0.2 percent to $ 53.72 a barrel.
