The Event which will surely stun world, the world champion in WBC / WBA / IBF / IBO middleweight category (72, 6 kg) Gennady Golovkin announced via Twitter on Friday that it will defend its title on September 10 against the IBF World Champion at welterweight category (up to 66, 7 kg) Kell Brook at the O2 Arena in London.
The agreement came without any prior warning and both boxers were seemingly turn to other matches.
It was believed that Golovkin will meet challenger for the middleweight belt Chris Eubank Jr, who apparently was quite enthusiastic, but later gave up on the fight. Earlier this year there were rumors of a clash between GGG and Brook, but then it seemed just like a dream. Brook had to unite his championship belt with this Jessie Vargas, but that fight fell apart over financial requirements.
The fight will not be contested at catchweight, but as a full middleweight.
The match will be broadcast live on HBO.
