George Soros donated 80% of his wealth to charity

George Soros transferred most of his wealth to the Open Society Foundation.

The billionaire philanthropist transferred $18 billion to the Open Society Foundation, a broad international group of charities working in more than 100 countries on projects related to refugee relief, public health, and others.

The amount of $18 billion, amounts to almost 80% of the total net value of Soros. According to Forbes, before the transfer he had a net value of $23 billion. The site ranks 29th in the ranking of the world's richest man.

Soros began his charity business in 1979, nine years after the founding of Soros Fund Management, the hedge fund that sent him to the list of ultra rich people in the world. He has donated more than $12 billion. for four decades after entering the business.

His first charity work includes providing scholarships for black South Africans during the apartheid in the country. During the Cold War he provided photocopiers to people living in Eastern Europe to reprint texts banned by communist governments. He also took the biggest effort to integrate the Roma in Europe, according to the biography of his website.
