German markets are collapsing early this week, reflecting the news that the Merkel and the Social Democrats have failed to agree on a stable government. The talks between the two parties will continue this week, but most analysts remain negative about the likelihood that Germany will have a stable government.
On Sunday, Merkel said the party is facing difficult negotiations with the Social Democrats, but the two parties have nevertheless reached an agreement on migration, energy and agriculture. Labor and health policies remain problematic and for this reason both parties do not commit themselves to a deadline setting the end of the negotiations and drafting a government.
DAX30 traded with a 0.85% decrease, while the euro marked a 0.03% growth.
