One of the final remaining hurdles for financial markets in 2017 has now been cleared after Angela Merkel returned to the helm of Europe’s largest economy. That’s a bullish sign for money managers at Franklin Templeton and Credit Suisse Group AG, who said her victory, boosts their optimism for German equities. With valuations on the DAX Index cheap relative to MSCI’s global index of stocks and forecasts for faster earnings growth than the global average, a strong foundation is in place for further gains.
