The Independence of Bulgaria is announced with a manifest on the 22 of September 1908. The Independence is a political act from the government of Alexander Malinov. With it, we reject the vassal dependence of the Ottoman Empire, imposed on it by the Berlin Treaty, concluded in 1878.
For a long time the significance of this event in the new history is not appreciated, but on that date in 1908, Bulgaria, one of the oldest in Europe, reappears on the map of Europe after five centuries of Ottoman domination. September 22 was declared a public holiday by a decision of the National Assembly of September 10, 1998.
