Jeff Bezos has a New Year's resolution: nab an Oscar.
The Amazon CEO, whose company picked up two Golden Globes and two Emmy Awards in 2015, seeks to earn an Academy Award in 2016.
"We want to win an Oscar," he recently told German newspaper Die Welt, explaining that Amazon hopes to produce 16 movies per year.
Amazon's first film "Chi-Raq," directed by Spike Lee, hit theaters Dec. 4, just in time to be considered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for next year's Oscars.
Initially, the film was tentatively slated for a release at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. However, that time frame would not have allowed for 2016 Oscar contention.
The film, a modern adaptation of the Greek play "Lysistrata," is set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago and features a star-studded cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Wesley Snipes, John Cusack, Angela Bassett and Nick Cannon.
