JP Morgan Securities with $2.8m fine

JP Morgan Securities (JPMS) has agreed to pay a fine of $2.8m to FINRA, the largest independent US supervisory authority, to retain control of its clients' shares. JPMS does not deny, but does not acknowledge any unlawful actions on the part of the company. US Securities Commission (SEC) rules require the broker to keep his clients' assets available in case the company becomes insolvent.

FINRA found that JPMS had violated the rule to protect their clients from insolvency by failing to maintain adequate reserves to ensure the proper functioning of their control and management systems. The shortage of these reserves has been accumulated between 2008 and 2016, which excludes all versions that JPMS did not hold reserves as a result of an error.
