In his speech Patrick Harker, Fed President of Philadelphia, formally said he would support the interest rate hike next month, despite low inflation, as the country needs to prepare for a future economic shock. On the graph below, we can trace the so-called Dot Pot, who shows the mood after the Fed members.
The impression is that Fed members will only agree on the level of about 2.25%, and subsequent promotion may be a difficult task, as members' opinions remain very different after the December release.
The Fed raised interest rates twice in 2017, and expectations in December are to see another rise. Currently, the probability of rising interest rates in December is estimated at 92.3%, which means that lifting is almost certain.
