Futures pointed to a higher open for Asian markets on Friday, as monetary policy announcements from the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan (BOJ) eased much of the uncertainty investors had grappled with.
Australia's SPI futures traded at 5,381, a touch higher than the ASX 200's last close at 5,374.45.
Nikkei futures in Chicago traded at 16,865, while Osaka futures were at 16,490. The Japanese benchmark index finished up nearly 2 percent at 16,807.62 on Wednesday, following an announcement from the BOJ that it would overhaul its monetary policy framework, before being closed for a public holiday Thursday.
The Japanese yen traded at 100.80 versus the dollar, a touch weaker than the 100.23 level it fetched Thursday afternoon local time. Meanwhile, the Australian dollar traded at $0.7646, after climbing in the previous session from a pullback in the dollar.
