Rare Patek Philippe puts auction record in Asia

Very rare Patek Philipe from 1953 was sold for $2.9million by Phillips auction house in Hong Kong, and setting a record-breaking auction for a watch in Asia.

The 18-carat gold watch exceeded the HK $ 20m mark, with the bidding just lasting 5 minutes. The demand for similar watches in Asia flourished, as last month, the same auction house sold Paul Newman Rolex Cosmograph Dayton for $17.8m.

Phillips managed to beat his own record for selling a wristwatch in Asia, which was achieved in 2016. with the sale of Patek Philipe made of pink gold in 1968. for $1.2m.
