Alphabet will report earnings on Monday

As Alphabet Inc. heads into earnings on Monday, the European Union’s $5.07 billion Android antitrust fine levied will ruin the company’s profits for the quarter. The tech giant shares moved a little on Wednesday, when the fine was first announced, since the company will appeal it.

With regard to what will cost the company in cash, the fine will not be deducted from the tax and will cost approximately 75% of the expected net profit of 6.72 billion, which will result in a drastic reduction in earnings per share.
