Shares of Chinese real estate companies gained after data showed that house prices rose in most cities in the country last month.
Shanghai property index climbed 0.8%, the largest increase among industry groups. Prices of new homes rose in 39 cities, compared with 33 in November, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Composite Index The Shanghai added 0.3 percent, erasing a loss of more than 1.9%.
Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 0.3%, while the Hang Seng Index lost 0.9%.
China will publish a series of economic data this week. The government probably will report fourth-quarter growth in gross domestic product of 6.9 percent on Tuesday, according to estimates by economists. Expected annual pace of expansion is 6.9 percent, the slowest since 1990, and projections for the slowdown in GDP growth to 6.5% this year.
