Goldman chief equity strategist sees too much optimism
Here's the problem, according to Goldman Sachs chief equity market strategist David Kostin: earnings estimates have fallen 1% since the election but prices are up more than 10%.
"Financial market reconciliation lies ahead.. The S&P 500 Index will give back recent gains as investors embrace the reality that tax reform is likely to provide a smaller, later tailwind to corporate earnings than originally expected," he wrote in a note to clients.
Goldman sees the index hitting 2400 before fading back to 2300 at year end.
