SpaceX succeeded in its sixth consecutive mission from the beginning of 2018, launching its fifth batch of Iridium NEXT satellites in orbit using Falcon 9. So far SpaceX has been able to launch 50 NEXT satellites that are expected to form an artificial constellation in the near orbit of the earth .
Iridium NEXT Communications plans to send dozens of such devices in the near future. The company is an international mobile phone operator based not far from Washington DC in Virginia. In partnership with the French-Italian company Thales Alenia Space, she has set herself to create and test 81 Iridium NEXT satellites. The launch of 70 such devices was assigned to SpaceX. The gradual shift of the old satellites and the low-Earth orbit of such a large number of new Iridium NEXTs is the first-ever operation of a similar scale.
Iridium NEXT are new-generation satellites that allow "the development of new innovative products and solutions". Due to delayed take-off, Iridium plans to start providing such products by the end of 2018. SpaceX has been awarded two more launches that are expected by the end of the first half of 2018.
By unverified information through the satellites in question, Iridium aims to become a global provider of Internet and mobile services.
