The dollar reached 10-year highs, amid speculation that the US is moving closer to an increase in interest rates and the economies of Europe and Japan are waiting for new incentives from the central banks. USD against the yen added 0.1%, reaching 118.72 yen level for the valley after yesterday rose by 1.1%. Level against the euro of the US dollar is trading at 1.1545 after January 16 noted 1.1460 - the highest level since November 2003 onwards.
The European single currency fell 0.1 percent against the yen to 137.10 yen per euro, amid expectations of quantitative easing by the ECB. Economists expect Mario Draghi announced a plan to support the economy in the region after the meeting on Thursday, when we take the decision to buy government bonds.
New Zealand kiwi dropped to more than 2-year lows, as inflation in the country has lower than expected levels.
