US stocks started higher today, with investor sentiment backed by strong reports from Microsoft and Tesla.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up more than 67 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500 gained 0.4% as it neared the new ATH. The Nasdaq Composite increased 0.7%.
Microsoft reported revenue of $ 1.38 per share on revenue of $ 33.06 billion in the previous quarter. The company's shares jumped 1.4%.
"MSFT delivered strength throughout the area without any drawbacks and more importantly gave a stronger-than-expected forecast for the last quarter, which speaks to the dominance of the enterprise," said Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.
Tesla shares jumped more than 19% after the electric car maker posted a quarterly profit. The company also told investors that the new Shanghai Factor was "ready for production".
