Tech stocks may be the safest port in a geopolitical storm that ensues from Trump's Iran decision, the possibilities and probabilities of which remind investors to stick with what they know rather than guessing how markets react.

Yesterday's close for the S&P 500 tech gauge eclipsed the April high, which clears a key hurdle to re-testing the March record high -- a testament to the sector's strength and investors' willingness to own it.

On the flip side, consumer staples remain as unloved as ever. They were the worst performers yesterday, falling amid a broad-based rally -- a sign of investor unwillingness to nibble despite seemingly cheap valuations and attractive dividend yields.
