Telegram, the best encrypted Messenger, is considering ICO worth $500m.

Telegram plans ICO with its own cryptocurrency called "Grams" based on a third-generation blockchain. Durov brothers, the founders of one of the world's most secure messengers, are considering the total value of the currency not to exceed $5 billion, and the pre-sale to provide $500 million of coins.

With this move, the Telegram aims to become a popular cryptographic payment platform, a segment that has been occupied by the Chinese WeChat, until the country's government has taken action against the use of Crypto currencies for criminal activities.

Gram coins will be a third generation, meaning it will not rely on mining to generate currency, as with Bitcoin. The ICO is expected in March and 5 billion Grams will be created, of which 4% will be reserved for development by the Telegram team and 52% will be put into circulation.

Telegram started in 2013, and by December 2017, there are already 180m users worldwide. The application is known for its high level of security allowing users to exchange messages and files with each other or in special groups.
