Investor love for both gold and equities is chipping away at the historical inverse relationship between the asset classes. While the price of bullion is close to a 2016 high, stocks have been posting records almost daily. “Equity markets and gold usually move in opposite directions, but that relation is out of whack because of the dollar weakness, which is good for both equities and for gold,” says Naeem Aslam, chief market analyst at TF Global Markets in London.
