Shares in Asia were trading at higher levels in today's session against the backdrop of the positive development of the US-China trade front. Markets are also awaiting the announcement of further measures to ease ECB policy, with the bank announcing its interest rate decision later today.
Major Chinese stocks recorded gains, with Shanghai Composite up 0.18%, Shenzhen Component 0.16%, and Shenzhen Composite almost flat.
In Hong Kong, however, Hang Seng recorded a slight decrease of 0.25%, with shares of Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing Limited (HKEX) falling more than 2.5% after rumors that it could merge with the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
Nikkei 225 rose 0.8% and Topix 0.67%. Yahoo Japan shares jumped 2% after news broke that the company intends to buy clothing retailer Zozo. Zozo's shares jumped 15%.
In Australia, the ASX200 rose 0.56%. MSCI Asia ex - Japan Index rose 0.31%.
