Amazon's founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, continues to increase his status.
His wealth is largely due to Amazon's shares he owns, which have added more than 50% over the past 6 months.
Bezos started 2018 with a wealth of $100 billion, but quickly added $10 billion for the first two weeks of the year. By the end of January he had already had $120 billion.
The Bloomberg billionaires index shows that he is already worth $ 131 billion, up $32.3 billion dollars from December 31, 2017.
Besos already owns $38 billion more than Bill Gates, who has long been the leader of the richest people in the world. Gates has added just $1.09 billion in 2018.
Since the beginning of the current year, Bezos has earned an average of $325,000 per minute.
For the whole of 2017 he added $35 billion to his name.
