The start of the Asian session mostly likely is to be positive, after the French elections where the result was without surprises. US indices remained stable and closed at opening levels, as markets were traded calmly. The futures of the American indices are positive and it is possible that this positive sentiment will influence the Asian markets as well today.
The price of Oil is around $46.50 per barrel and its up just slightly and if this remain as is, will help the indices to trade higher. The USD climbed higher but only against some currencies, as the Euro fell right after the results of the election were made available, but it is possible that this is only a correction for the Euro. Gold price continue to trade lower at around $1,227 and Silver as well traded lower at around $16.27.
During the Asian session tonight we expect Retail Sales and Business confidence by NAB from Australia and Average Cash Earnings from Japan. If the data are better than expected from Australia, this will suppor the AUD. The if the data from Japan are better this can help the JPY, which traded lower during the US trading session. Australian budget is also waited to be released at some point tonight.
Nikkei will open higher around 19,930, as the ASX 200 will open higher as well around 5,886.
