The market turmoil triggered by the fall of the Chinese yuan on a year-on-year basis puts traders on alert after the yuan collapsed by 0.9% on Thursday, the biggest drop since 2015.
Copper slid below $ 6,000 a metric ton for the first time in a year, collapsing with other industrial metals and stocks of mining companies. Changes in emerging market currencies expand, with the peak reaching 6.7% in April.
Investors were caught up in the defensive position of Bank of China, which weakened its currency to 6.7 per dollar on Thursday for the first time since August 2017. As trade tensions between Washington and Beijing are rising - probably motivating the Asian nation to keep the yuan weaker - volatility may continue.
